Chamber Music Academy 2024
As part of our celebration of chamber music, the Singapore Chamber Music Festival will include a Chamber Music Academy which provides educational elements for amateur groups young and not so young. Such developmental opportunities and the gathering of musicians for a chamber music festival are key to nurturing a culture of lifelong music-making among friends.
Just as the inaugural festivals in 2003 and 2005 featured a mix of international artists and Singapore-based musicians, we welcome Jonathan Ong (leader, Verona Quartet), Aoi Trio (Japan) and Toh Chee Hung (piano, UK) to perform and coach the participants of the academy, in conjunction with Concordia Quartet, faculty of the YST Conservatory of Music, NAFA and SOTA, alumnus of earlier SCMF and other chamber musicians.
Currently, over twenty-five enthusiastic chamber groups, from Singapore, Malaysia and USA have submitted successful applications and will be working tirelessly to present their music in January, and will receive feedback and encouragement from the artistic faculty of the SCMF 2024. The most deserving groups will earn the chance to perform at the SCMF Gala closing festival showcase concert on 3rd February.
